game review

or perhaps, as the CS people would say
(I once was a part of the CS community),
g4M3 R3v!3VV .. hmm nm anyhow,
I downloaded Americas Army 2 weeks ago,
and installed it, rather straightforward allinall
(none of that CRAPPY Steam nonsense that Valve
forces onto the halflfie people these days)
and then i thought and expected something like
"K i installed the muthah, lets go waste some people!"
but ooooh noooooooooo, thats not how it works,
before actual playing one has to sit through some
REALLY tedious and immensly BORING "lessons"
(rofl ive done actual military service AND ive played
shooter game ever since CS Beta (early 2000)
so i think i KNOW how to cock, load, shoot and reload
any guns there is, but after all of that crap was over,
i got stuck on some test one has to do, a little houseshootout,
you know one of those thingies with enemies AND friendly
paperfigures turn around and you have to shoot the baddies
only, one hit on a friendly figure and youre toast (i could see how THIS
test would be useful in games that actually HAS those scenarios
such as SWAT 3 and 4, but why that moment is in a military FPS
is beyond me ....) so after like 10 tfailed tests i got bored
and simply ran thru the test, shooting at everything i could see
and then i PASSED ..!! Go figure ^^
After all of that CRAPAGE i went online, expecting a LOT of various
maps (its not that old game so it should have tons of maps)
but imagine my amazement when i could choose between 5 maps
(but really it was 3 cuss 2 of them was alike another to 99 pcg)
so i fired up "Border", kinda reminded me a little about the "Dust"
map from CS (but obviously better looking)
but, and heres a BIG cruncher, Americas Army (AA for short)
uses a modfied version of the Unreal engine, and that sorta
rules out 60 pcg of the gamers in the world, ie the Nvidia
users, cuss that graphic engine makes a LOT of those
"wear n tear" ("spray n prey"? lol) graphical anomalies
which makes it kinda unplayable, but since i have NO money
to get another game atm (cough BF2 cough :D) i guess i had to
try it anyhow, despite those anomalies,
the gameplay is straightforward, roundbased with 2 opposing teams
exactly like CS but with one huge difference - AA has no buysystem
and no cashsystem, all there is, is a basic Colt M4 (yup its true,
a shooter anno 2006 with NO wep choice option!!),
so i grabbed the Colt and chose a team and began to play,
my first reaction was "wtf who poured out oil and butter on this map then??!?
And why is everything ^Matrixtime^ ?" It felt like everything was
in slowmotion, and my dude on the screen (ie me duh)
was moving like he had been drinking 12 Newcastle Brown Ale
just prior to beginning on this game, everythiung was saggy laggy and sloooow,
but i did manage to shoot a guy, unfortunately though,
for him but more so for me, he was on MY team,
but why he was rushing towards me as i prepared my little foxhole
(i wa son Defenders team) is beyond me, first up you only
retreat like that IF you have some teammates facing the enemy,
if ones alone you BACK, thus letting teammates know youre NOT
a bogey , anyhow he looked a lot like the enemy, and no wonder -
all unis look identical (!!) so theres no mystery theres a LOT of
teamkills in this game, so it baffles me this game sorta distinguish
itself by saying its a REALISTIC game, which it is not btw,
its impossible to create a realistic shooter game,
anyhow this game uses a "tracing system" ie you must
signup on their homesite and choose a name, and then
your actions is stored in some huge (i presume its hugfe since they
claim they have 6 million players) computer, backtracking
everything you incl tk (teamkill), your overall score,
your Honour points etc, but anyhow i cant be bothered finishing this
review now, gotta play some REAL game ie DOOM3 hehehe ^^
will finish this review tomorrow
