yazoo, footie and michael moore

but not in that order ^^
interesting match today, the (quote) "sissy italians" (unquote)
vs the yanks ended 1-1, very strong performance from the
americans, which i cheered on, i dont like italian footie
at all, sure theyre all individually very good, but as a TEAM??
AND as a MAN too? Italian footiers are all about SHOW,
no other players gesticulate nearly half as much as they do,
"ooo i didnt even touch him!" or "ooo look at me, the evil
opponent tripped me!" and then the armwaves, its really pathetic
and lame as hell, and if they dont advance into the finals,
they cant say "well, we werent as good" but instead its something like
"well its everyone elses fault, NOT ours, the referees cant judge properly,
the linesmen are blind, these other countries conspired against us" etc etc,
is that comments made by MEN??
********************************************************'
Saw Fahrenheit 9/11 today while waiting for thefootie,
and despite being frustrated over the incompetence of the
Bush (fascist) junta, what makes me the most mad is when
Michael reveals how Bush has cutback on funds and aid for the
wounded veterans, is that REALLY how a country rewards their soldiers??!!?
"Go there, to a country zillion miles away and fight against the terrorists
(clever by Bush not to use the words taliban/enemy/iraqis,
by calling them terrorists he totally dehumanize the enemies and objectifies them,
old trick tho but still clever, its easier to shoot at terrorists rather than ay a
HUMAN target) but if you get wounded, tough luck!" How LAME is that?
And when Michael tells the story of the young guy who dies
in Iraq, and then when his paycheck comes they deducted (debucted? Ie they
removed) the last 5 days cuss "he didnt fullfill the contract", ummm well,
i cant think of a better excuse not showing for work than DEATH,
but also, talk about some SERIOUS cynism there, the family gets
5 days deduction pay cuss he DIED in the line of service .....
Speaking of cynism, perhaps of a little more benign nature,
is "Happy people", the song by Yazoo (and sung by Vince,
the only song he ever sung on), its about the conservative English television,
but i find it can be true about USA under the Bush (fascist) junta as well -

"Take no notice 'cos I'm just the same
There's a thousand other faces with the very same name
And we look like each other, and we all live together.
We talk about the same things
And we never try and change things.

We never give opinions and we never state views
After all, you can't be sure that what we say is true
And if you want to join us, you can follow on behind us.
You can talk about your visions
You can make some big decisions.

We believe in having fun and smiling all the time
And sometimes we're on TV if we're over 69
And when we have a raffle, then it's just a big reshuffle.
It's a democratic poll
But we're the ones who are in control."

How true is that then??

I love that simple but cool line,
" We believe in having fun and smiling all the time
And sometimes we're on TV if we're over 69" hehehe ^_^
